As we imagine the Miami of 2040, Opportunity Miami is partnering with institutions and leaders across Greater Miami to host monthly gatherings focused on helping our community build a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable economic future.
For example, we have hosted eight climate tech meetups that have brought together members of Miami’s growing community of entrepreneurs building a sustainable, net-zero future.
Next up is an event hosted by Miami Dade College that will focus on Miami’s future workforce by closely examining how Miami is becoming an emerging global city. This Opportunity Miami and Academic Leaders Council lunch and conversation will be with Dr. Alejandro Portes, who co-authored the book, “Emerging Global Cities: Origin, Structure and Significance,” which traces the rise of Miami, Dubai, and Singapore.
We've set aside a select number of seats for our Opportunity Miami newsletter subscribers and would love for you to join us.
When: September 14th, Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: The Idea Center at Miami Dade College, Downtown Miami
At a time when Miami is both making enormous strides but also facing daunting challenges, this promises to be a timely and thought-provoking conversation about the future of our city on the global stage.
The lunchtime event is presented by the Academic Leaders Council, which is composed of the leaders of Barry University, Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, Miami Dade College, St. Thomas University, University of Miami, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. They will be joined by our Opportunity Miami co-chairs: CareerSource South Florida's Rick Beasley, American Airlines' JC Liscano, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
